Colorado Mountain College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). CMC has chosen the Higher Learning Commission’s alternative accreditation through the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP).
AQIP defines six categories in which our performance is evaluated. AQIP requires that we ask ourselves and our constituents how we’re doing, how we can improve, and what projects we can complete to achieve our goals. Learn more about the six AQIP categories.
CMC’s progress toward creating a culture of evidence is presented in our Systems Portfolio, which documents our success and is updated periodically. In response to the Systems Portfolio, the HLC provides feedback regarding the college’s strengths and opportunities for improvement via a Systems Appraisal.

The 2014 Quality Checkup Visit was positive and encouraged us to keep moving forward with our strong commitment to AQIP and continuous quality improvements. CMC is committed to becoming data informed; using data and information to make decisions that improve student learning and student support. In 2014, CMC’s accreditation was reaffirmed for another eight years. The next systems portfolio is due June 1, 2018.
