Glenn Davis, Eagle County Trustee
Eagle County trustee and board president Glenn Davis joined the Colorado Mountain College Board of Trustees in November 2009, but the Avon resident is no stranger to service at the college.
The longtime Colorado resident, banker and community volunteer served on the CMC Foundation Board for five years before volunteering as a trustee. During his time serving the foundation, Davis was most proud of the college piloting the HERO Scholarship at the Valley-Eagle Valley Campus in Edwards.
Davis is happy to see the college’s strong growth in Eagle County. “It’s been gratifying to see that the Vail-Eagle Valley Campus, in conjunction with the HERO Scholarship, has in many ways transformed the campus from more of a part-time campus to more of a full-time institution,” he said.
As a trustee, Davis has goals that include helping to strengthen community members’ knowledge of and appreciation for the college district across its 12,000-square-mile service area.
“I would like our communities to come to fully appreciate that CMC is doing wonderful work in providing educational opportunities for people who might not be able to find those opportunities anywhere else,” said the trustee, who has taken his share of computer and customer service classes at the college.
Davis said his first exposure to the mission of the college came some 11 years ago with his work helping to select recipients of the Alpine Bank Latino/Hispanic Scholarship. The more he got to know the college staff, the more he was impressed.
“Every new door I open at CMC ultimately provides me with more appreciation for the people who are there and the work that they do,” Davis said.
Davis, who earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Lake Forest College in Chicago, has worked at Alpine Bank since 1988 and currently serves as regional president for the Eagle and Routt county areas. He enjoys skiing with his family, including his wife, Rebecca, and their two young sons.
The trustee also devotes time as a board member for the Ski and Snowboard Club Vail, the Vail Mountain School and the Vail Valley Partnership. In the warmer months, the New Hampshire native likes to play golf.
