When is Student Orientation and Registration S.O.A.R.?

S.O.A.R. IV – January 7th-8th, 2015
Students will move into the residence hall on the morning of Wednesday, January 7th. S.O.A.R. sessions will take place on Wednesday, January 7th and Thursday, January 8th. Students must RSVP by December 31. On-campus lodging is not available in the residence hall for guests during this session. There is a fee associated with S.O.A.R.

Do I have to attend Orientation?

Yes. All incoming students are required to attend Student Orientation and Registration. The material covered will be essential to your transition into Colorado Mountain College (i.e. placement tests, campus information on campus resources, advising and registering for classes, etc.). This also applies to transfer students.

What is the fee for?

The fee charged ($175) for Orientation includes your food and housing during Registration and covers the sessions and services utilized. If you will not be living on-campus, the cost is $145.

The fee also covers all the Welcome Week events and activities that take place during the first week of the semester.

When will I receive my Orientation Confirmation?

After you register for Orientation online and your registration is processed, you will be sent an Orientation confirmation email. You will receive additional information, including a schedule of events, via email approximately two weeks before S.O.A.R.

When can I register for classes?

You will register for classes when you attend your Orientation. You will meet with an advisor, register and pay.

Can my family come too?

S.O.A.R. is open to all family members. The cost for guests is $40 for the first guest and $30 for each additional guest.

How do I get to Steamboat Springs?

Air: You can fly into Denver (DEN) and rent a car or take a shuttle or fly into Hayden (HDN) and rent a car or take a shuttle.

Shuttle: Alpine Taxi will provide shuttle service to and from the Hayden airport as well as to and from Denver International Airport. Check for current rates at www.goalpine.com

Car: Steamboat Springs is about 3.5 hours from the Denver airport. Take I-70 west to the Silverthorne exit, Highway 9 to Kremmling then take Highway 40 west to Steamboat Springs.

What should I bring to Orientation?

Bring any SAT or ACT scores, college credit or AP scores, personal scholarship information, and financial aid awards and admissions correspondence if you have any questions.

What if I can’t attend any Orientation Session due to extenuating circumstances?

This is a very rare occurrence. Students are required to attend S.O.A.R. in order to take classes at CMC. If you have an extenuating circumstance, please contact:
