Provides instruction for interpretation of EKG strips, anatomy and physiology of the heart, using three-lead monitoring as a guide. Twelve-lead EKG may be discussed.

Class Description

Looking for ways to spice up your holiday treats this year and keep yourself and loved ones on a healthy track? In this class, we will explore alternative flours for baking such as almond and coconut flour, as well as healthier sweetener options and other simple substitutions. We’ll cover how to upgrade tried and true family recipes and we’ll make a few delicious and healthy treats. All the recipes made in class are gluten-free, dairy-free and grain-free with options for meeting other dietary needs.Heather Pratt is a Master Nutrition Therapist and has been helping individuals and groups make healthy eating a way of life for the past seven years. She taught for the Nutrition Therapy Institute’s Natural Food Chef Program for the past five years and has worked with 100s of clients over the years teaching healthy eating habits. She currently is the Nutrition Writer for Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage and sees clients in her office in Carbondale. Food and healthy living are her passions and she loves sharing them with others.

Class Description

In this three-hour workshop, we will explore and learn about these three popular applications on the Mac. These are three built-in applications on the Mac, which are both fun and easy to use. You will learn how to surf the web, how to use the Safari program effectively, how to save your favorite web sites with bookmarks, how to organize your bookmarks, how to search effectively for information on-line, and how set up parental on-line restraints for your children. Using Mac Mail, you will learn how to write, send, receive, reply, forward, organize and delete emails. You will learn how to send attachments, how to save attachments that others send you, and how know if your attachments are properly sized. Using the Mac Address book, you will learn how this program integrates with Mac Mail, and how to add people and groups to your address book.

Class Description:

This class provides a total cardio and muscle body workout. Aerobics include both step and kickboxing moves followed by conditioning using fitballs, dumbbells and resistance bands to enhance balance, stability, and core strength. There is also a focus on abdominal strengthening and stretching. All of these exercises may be adapted for any fitness level, so all are welcome. Please bring a water bottle and exercise mat to class.

Wilderness First Responder @ CMC in Spring Valley

Class Description

This course provides the student with those skills and emergency medical care techniques used by guides, trip leaders and others providing primary care in backcountry setting. The student will be able to respond correctly to those medical and trauma situations commonly encountered when entry into the EMS system is delayed or unlikely.

Field days are mandatory on Saturday & Sunday, 2/7-2/8, and 2/21-2/22. Upon successful completion of this class, students will be awarded Professional Rescuer (CPR) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certifications from Desert Mountain Medicine. The supplemental course charge includes textbook, certifications, and expendable supplies. The supplemental course charge is nonrefundable. Minimum age 18 or with instructor permission.
