Sopris Theatre Company presents “The Seafarer” @ CMC in Spring Valley
Dec 8 @ 7:00 pm

poster image for "The Seafarer"Those who love a chilling ghost tale with a heavy dose of Irish folklore and dark humor are in for a treat when Sopris Theatre Company opens its next production Dec. 2.

Written by Irish playwright Conor McPherson, “The Seafarer” is set in modern-day Ireland on the coast north of Dublin. It’s Christmas Eve and a group of old drinking buddies are spending an evening together playing poker – until a mysterious stranger shows up. The New York Times, which reviewed the play when it opened in New York in 2007, calls it “a thinking-person’s alternative to ‘It’s a Wonderful Life.’”

Because of mature content, this play is recommended only for audiences over the age of 16.

“The Seafarer” features Brendan Cochran, Gary Ketzenbarger, J.D. Miller, Brad Moore and Owen O’Farrell, and is directed by G. Thomas Cochran.

Curtain is 7 p.m. on Dec. 2-3 and 8-10, and 2 p.m. on Dec. 4 and 11. Tickets are $18 for adults, and $13 for students, seniors, and CMC staff and faculty. For more information, visit our Current Productions page; or call 947-8177; for tickets, go to svtickets@coloradomtn.edu. All performances are at the New Space Theatre at Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley, 3000 County Road 114, Glenwood Springs.
