Learn to use your iPad or iPhone to its full potential. This class will teach you how to use your device to meet your own unique needs. If you are unsure of even the questions to ask in how to maximize your use of an iPad, this class is for you! An emphasis will be on teaching the use of apps that promote independence and self-sufficiency, especially for those with disabilities and individuals wishing to ‘age’ in place. Class Description

Introduces the development and implementation of a program to teach English to adults whose first language is not English. Topics will range widely from assessment and placement to the theories behind language acquisition. Students will also cover a wide variety of methodologies, both group and individualized, that are aimed at teaching the non-English speaker the written and verbal skills necessary to successfully function in the United States. This course was designed to meet Colorado Literacy Instruction Authorization requirements. This hybrid course combines set days for face-to-face classroom instruction with online learning activities. Students must have basic computer skills and high-speed access to the Internet. Class meets in Carbondale on 7/18, 7/25 and 8/1. Required course for the Adult Basic Education Authorization. Text required. Cost: three credit hours of tuition.
