Interested in creating more dynamic slideshows online that will truly spark a group conversation among your course members? You can with VoiceThread! Learn in this online course how easy it is to use VoiceThread’s collaborative online platform to create and share multimedia slide shows with images, documents, and videos. With VoiceThread, participants can leave written, audio, or video comments as they navigate through your slideshow, and the VoiceThreads can be linked to or embedded into Canvas courses or shared publicly. In this course you will learn how to:

  • Navigate through a VoiceThread and the different user roles VoiceThread offers
  • Create a VoiceThread using PowerPoint presentations, images,videos, and other files
  • Edit your VoiceThread and its settings
  • Make comments on a VoiceThread
  • Share a VoiceThread and embed it into Canvas
This course will be held via a Canvas course as well as via VoiceThread’s website. This class is designed to be flexible and accommodate your schedule. There are deadlines for each day’s work to keep the group moving forward together, but participants may work on the assignments at any time of day or night, from any computer (PC or Mac) with an Internet connection and either Firefox, Safari, Chrome, or Internet Explorer.

Join CMC instructor Michelle Lefebvre and Dr. Gabrielle of the Office of Innovations for this 60 minute live webinar on how to copy courses in Canvas. Get guidance, tips, and tricks. This is your chance to ask 2 Canvas experts your questions and get help with setting up your upcoming Canvas course! We will cover:

  • How to copy a Canvas course in its entirety
  • How to copy only selected parts of a course
  • How to “export” your course and why this alternate method of course copying can be useful
  • How to copy just quizzes from one course to another
  • Common course copying issues & FAQ

This training will be held online via a Blackboard Collaborate webconference. You will be emailed the information you’ll need to join the session after you register.

Required equipment
This is a live online webinar, so you will need a computer with high-speed internet access. You will also need computer speakers (built-in or separate) or a headset to hear the instructor and group.

Art Behind the Screen Film Appreciation course
Instructor Leonardo Santana
graduated from the Madrid Film School and has worked in film and television for ten years around Europe and Mexico, working with important directors like the two time Academy Award winner Pedro Almodovar. His 35mm thesis short film Sleepless Eyes, has been shown in more than Thirty international film festivals.

Students will gain a heightened awareness of composition, editing patterns an overall comprehension of film evolution and history. Employing sensitivity and critical intellectual tools students will analyze films independently and develop their own criteria while utilizing important vocabulary (camera movements, angle types, axis of action, etc.) analyzing dramatic value and capital knowledge for film appreciation. (students must be 17 years or older to register)

Registration begins April 21 for summer classes at Colorado Mountain College. Many classes, including those taught via online learning, start the week of May 11. Other classes start throughout the semester.

Credit class schedules for the Carbondale, Glenwood Springs and Spring Valley locations are available at college centers at 690 Colorado Ave. in Carbondale, 1402 Blake Ave. in Glenwood Springs, or 3000 County Road 114 in Spring Valley (south of Glenwood Springs). Information about select bachelor’s degrees is online at coloradomtn.edu/4year. Continuing education schedules for these three valley locations have been mailed out locally.

You can also browse online for all classes at coloradomtn.edu/classes.

Students new to the college can apply online or where they wish to attend. New degree-seeking students are encouraged to see a counselor before registering.

Returning students who have not taken classes within the past 12 months, and who wish to take credit classes, need to re-apply. They can register in person or online. Registration forms can be faxed or mailed. Current students who have taken classes within the past 12 months can register by mail, phone or fax, or online.
