Colorado Mountain College Conference on Sustainability 2014
This is a CMC internal conference for Sustainability faculty, staff, students and community partners.
The speaker will be Dr. Stephen Mulkey who assumed the post of president at Unity College in Unity, ME, on 1 July 2011. Prior to his appointment to Unity, Dr. Mulkey served as director of the program in Environmental Science at the University of Idaho from 2008 through spring 2011. As director, he led an initiative obtaining National Science Foundation funding for the creation of a new Professional Science Master’s degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, which included degree tracks in Sustainability Science and Climate Change. With major funding from NASA, he directed a statewide project focused on climate change education. View Dr. Mulkey speaking at the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit.
Instructor Leonardo Santana graduated from the Madrid Film School and has worked in film and television for ten years around Europe and Mexico, working with important directors like the two time Academy Award winner Pedro Almodovar. His 35mm thesis short film Sleepless Eyes, has been shown in more than Thirty international film festivals.
Students will gain a heightened awareness of composition, editing patterns an overall comprehension of film evolution and history. Employing sensitivity and critical intellectual tools students will analyze films independently and develop their own criteria while utilizing important vocabulary (camera movements, angle types, axis of action, etc.) analyzing dramatic value and capital knowledge for film appreciation.
