Khan Academy Coach Training
Aug 4 – Aug 8 all-day

Take this workshop and learn how you can use the Khan Academy’s great educational resources! The Khan Academy is a not-for-profit with free online videos and exercises for learning math and other topics. All of the site’s resources are available to anyone. Learners can create a free account to track what videos and lessons they have completed. As an instructor, you can ask your students to list you as their “Coach” in their Khan Academy account. Then you can view charts, graphs, and helpful data to see exactly which videos and exercises each student has completed, what topics they are finding difficult, and what their strengths are. You can use this “Coach” data to modify your upcoming course lectures, since you’ll know exactly how your students are grasping the material and if any topics need to be reviewed as a class. You can also use the data to make recommendations to individual students for additional videos or exercises they should complete, and you can use the built-in tool to recommend exercises. In this workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Set up a Khan academy account
  • Show your students how to invite you to be their “coach”
  • Navigate the coach interface to mine the data in order to benefit your course and your students’ learning

Visit the Khan Academy’s website for more information. This training is fully online and offered via Canvas.

Dates
This is a fully online, Monday-Friday 5-day training, offered via Canvas, with tasks that need to be completed on certain days. You can complete the daily tasks at any time that day (Monday tasks need to be completed by midnight any time on Monday, Tuesday tasks anytime on Tuesday, etc.) Total completion time is estimated to be approximately 4 hours.
