TIPS Alcohol Server Training

TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) is the most widely recognized certification training for alcohol servers, whether restaurant employees or event volunteers. Introduction to Avalanche Field Session

Introduction to Avalanches Field Session on Vail Pass. Fast progression covers the latest techniques. This is an on-the-snow avalanche class. You will learn cutting-edge rescue, beacon use, group dynamics and stability analysis. Small class size allows for extensive hands-on training. Course follows guidelines of the American Avalanche Association. Prerequisite is Introduction to Avalanches classroom session. Details of field day are reviewed during classroom session. The Off-Broadway surprise hit musical, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” opens at Colorado Mountain College in Spring Valley Dec. 5.

The musical comedy revue, with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, celebrates the complicated song and dance of couple-hood. “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” celebrates the agony and the ecstasy of dating, marriage, childrearing and finding love past 30.

CMC Theatre’s production of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” is directed by Sue Lavin and with musical direction from Terry Lee. It features an ensemble cast of six, including four current CMC theater students. Performances are Dec. 5-7 and 12-14 at 7 p.m., with a matinee Dec. 8 at 2 p.m., in the New Space Theatre at Colorado Mountain College in Spring Valley.

Tickets can be reserved now at svticketsales@coloradomtn.edu or 947-8177, and are $20 for adults and $15 for students, seniors, staff and faculty.

Upcoming shows for the spring season are “Proof,” Feb. 7-9 and 13-16; and “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” April 4-6 and 10-13.

Avalanche Awareness Level I Avalanche Safety class @ Colorado Mountain College - Spring Valley

You can learn to stay safe this winter with CMC’s Avalanche Safety course which provides the hands-on opportunity to evaluate avalanche hazards and practice rescue techniques. Classroom sessions meet Jan. 7 and 9 at Spring Valley (from 6-7:50pm); the field outing is Jan. 11 & 12.

Students will receive a certificate of completion stating that the class was taught following the guidelines of AIARE. The backcountry outings will cover up to 5 miles. Students must ski, snowboard, or snowshoe at an intermediate level or receive instructor consent. Avalanche beacons, shovels, and probe poles are provided; however, students may bring their own for the instructor to evaluate for appropriateness.

Limited space is available. Please register on or before Jan. 3.
