You will learn to wield a knife like a pro! You learn about different types of cutlery, proper grip and technique. You’ll get at least one hour of live practice while chefs Tammy and Louie Girardot guide you through the construction of a simple,easy-to-make, Thai dinner, which, of course, you eat! Topics include sales and payroll taxes, time keeping features, generating payroll tax returns, and using Quickbooks to calculate taxes, record transactions, produce reports and pay tax liabilities. Prerequisite: Quickbooks II or instructor consent. Emphasis: QuickBooks 2012. Cost: $75; Refund: 6/25.
Prepares the student for certification in CPR and basic first aid. Skills will include basic life support, airway obstruction, control of, bleeding, shock, and patient care for the unconscious. American Heart Association materials used. Text required and must be purchased. Cost: one-half credit hour of tuition.
Learn to capture the essence of a scene quickly with all your senses engaged. Workshop is focused on learning to make quick decisions, bold compositions, and simplifying for impact. On location painting will help to make you a faster and better painter when you return to the studio. Each day will start with a demo and short lecture on site, then supervised instruction throughout the day. This workshop will emphasize painting small sketches at a different location daily in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
This class is a form of Hatha Yoga that utilizes bio mechanical principles of alignment together with breath and a celebration of the heart. Each class is focused on a heart-related theme that brings awareness of how yoga brings us off the mat and into the world. The class is influenced by the principles of Anusara Yoga, which empowers the student to find a sense of ease, and move into challenging poses. The Wednesday class is 15 minutes longer and ends at 6:45. Please bring a yoga mat and blanket to class. Meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 6/30-8/6. Cost: $81; Refund: 6/27.
Aikido is a great exercise for the mind, body, and spirit. Eastern philosophy and effective non-violent self-defense are taught and learned in an experiential way. Late enrollment accepted.
Personal Trainer and Human Performance Specialist Tom Moher guides you through a series of exercise stations designed to improve cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone. Each station is set up to recruit different muscles while moving through strength and endurance exercises. This class is ideal for those with busy lifestyles. Introduces the basics of worksheet operations using Microsoft Excel 2010. Topics include data entry, formatting, formulas, functions, printing, and file management. Prerequisite: familiarity with the Windows operating system.
