Not everyone gets a warning. You can learn to stay safe this winter with CMC’s Avalanche Safety course which provides the hands-on opportunity to evaluate avalanche hazards and practice rescue techniques. Classroom sessions meet Jan. 7 and 9 at Spring Valley (from 6-7:50pm); the field outing is Jan. 11 & 12.
Students will receive a certificate of completion stating that the class was taught following the guidelines of AIARE. The backcountry outings will cover up to 5 miles. Students must ski, snowboard, or snowshoe at an intermediate level or receive instructor consent. Avalanche beacons, shovels, and probe poles are provided; however, students may bring their own for the instructor to evaluate for appropriateness.
Limited space is available. Please register on or before Jan. 3.
Spring semester classes begin today, January 13, at all Colorado Mountain College locations. Additionally, some classes and shorter workshops begin throughout the semester. Please browse the class schedule for complete details.

This intensive hands-on seminar on bread introduces the student to the basics of artisan bread baking. Learn to bake basic white bread, multi-grain boules, braided loaves, and a variety of French loaves such as batards, baguettes, ficelles and boules.
