Canvas Rubrics Webinar

Join us for a live online webinar via Blackboard Collaborate that will introduce Canvas rubrics. We will cover:

  • What is a rubric?
  • Why you should try rubrics, and how they can save you time!
  • See how rubrics work with Assignments and the SpeedGrader

  • Get tips for recycling and improving your rubrics for each course.

NOTE: Elluminate Live! is now called “Blackboard Collaborate”. CMC is exclusively using the newest version, 12.5. This session will be held online via a Blackboard Collaborate webconference. You will be emailed the information you’ll need to join the session after you register.

Required equipment
This is a live online webinar, so you will need a computer with high-speed internet access. You will also need computer speakers (built-in or separate) or a headset to hear the instructor and group.

Suggested equipment
Microphone (or headset with microphone): If you have a microphone, you can speak to the group.

Canvas: Basics Online Spring Break Edition

Welcome to Canvas: Basics Online Spring Break Edition 2014!
This session will take place completely online in the Canvas learning management system, at coloradomtn.instructure.com. It will take place over 4 days: it begins on Monday morning, March 10, and ends Thursday, March 13.

New for the Spring Break Edition: optional daily web conference! Join the instructor to talk about Canvas, review topics, ask questions, and get help with the course. (Times to be determined.)
There are deadlines for each day’s work to keep the group moving forward together, but participants may work on the assignments at any time of day or night, from any computer (PC or Mac) with an Internet connection and either Firefox, Safari, Chrome, or Internet Explorer. In Canvas: Basics Online we will cover how to:

  • Log into Canvas
  • Modify your profile and Notifications in Canvas
  • Make your course “published” so that students can see it
  • Create an announcement
  • Create Pages and add text, videos, and links to the course’s Pages
  • Create a Discussion
  • Work with modules
  • Create Assignments
  • And more!

In addition to these tasks, the group will also be communicating via the course discussions. Participants will be engaging with Canvas as students and will carry out some of the assigned tasks in the Canvas course for this training. However, some of the tasks must be done outside of this training’s course, in a “sandbox” course where the participant has an instructor role. This “sandbox” course will be provided for course participants. This training concludes with a final quiz on Canvas topics.

CMC Online Course Design Guidelines Webinar

Explore Quality Matters design expectations and how they are incorporated in the CMC Online Course Design Checklist. Developing and delivering a great online course is a challenge with constantly evolving technology and industry standards, so the Online Course Quality Task Force worked hard in Fall 2013 to establish a set of standards and best practices to ensure CMC online courses are consistently high-quality learning environments that facilitate active learning and a positive learning and teaching environment.

Online Course Pedagogy and Instructor Evaluation Documents Webinar

These protocols and documents were established by the Online Course Quality Task Force in Fall 2013.
