Welcome to the 2014 golf season. Come enjoy the fun this summer at Lakota Canyon Golf Course. These Thursday evening clinics will consist of some one-on-one and group instruction, range work, putting, chipping, bunker and golf etiquette. Treats and prizes will also be provided. So don’t be shy, clinics are open to all ability levels with 3 classes working on fundamentals and the last class having fun on the course! Meets the standards for recertification of a Wilderness First Responder certification. Topics to be included are CPR, patient assessment, trauma, medical, and environmental emergiencies. This course is required to maintain a current Wilderness First Responder certification which must be recertified every three years. Certifications are sponosored by Desert Mountain Medicine (WFR) and the American Heart Association (Professional Rescuer CPR). The supplemental course charge includes textbook, expendable materials, and certification fees. The Saturday and Sunday meetings will take place in the classroom and outdoors. The supplemental course charge is nonrefundable. Minimum age 18. Meets Friday, May 9, from 6-9:50pm and Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11, from 8am-6pm. Cost: one credit hour of tuition plus a nonrefundable $160 course charge.
This is a course on how to learn French the right way with the basics of the language: alphabet, French nasals and sounds, grammar and verbs, conjugation, exercises and practice and common French expressions. Join native French speaker and tutor Virginia Reynolds for this basic language class. Meets Mondays, 5/12-7/21. Cost: $175; Refund: 5/9.
This course is an introduction to nutrition. Students will receive an overview of the essential nutrients of human nutrition and an introduction to medical nutritional support modalities. Cost: two credit hours of tuition.
This class is designed to provide lots of walking on a variety of local routes. Expert instructor, Heidi Vosbeck, provides a wealth of information about fitness, nutrition, and personal programs to establish walking as an engaging lifestyle. Meets Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5/12-6/26. Cost: one credit hour of tuition.
This class is a form of Hatha Yoga that utilizes bio mechanical principles of alignment together with breath and a celebration of the heart. Each class is focused on a heart-related theme that brings awareness of how yoga brings us off the mat and into the world. The class is influenced by the principles of Anusara Yoga, which empowers the student to find a sense of ease, and move into challenging poses. The Wednesday class is 15 minutes longer and ends at 6:45. Please bring a yoga mat and blanket to class. Meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 5/12-6/25. Cost: $91; Refund: 5/9.
Improve your English in basic to advanced classes. Students must take a test on registration day to determine their class level.
It’s not too late to become a ballerina! Anyone can learn to dance no matter your age or fitness level. This class focuses on basic ballet technique and increasing strength and flexibility. Classes are full of movement and fun with the benefits of traditional ballet training. Wear yoga-like clothes and socks or ballet slippers. Meets Mondays, 5/12-8/4. Cost: $110; Refund: 5/9.
Are you a busy person who likes variety in your workouts? This early morning class provides a different workout each class that is fun and challenging. Use body weight, fitballs, free weights, medicine balls and bands to develop flexibility, strength and total body fitness. Class will not meet four days TBA. Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5/13-8/7.
