Welcome to the Early Learners' Center Web Page

Who are we?

The Colorado Mountain College West Garfield Early Learners' Center is a state licensed pre-school program and a non-icensed after school support service for currently enrolled CMC students and local community families.

What are the Early Learners' Center's mission and philosophy?

The mission of the Early Learners’ Center is to provide preschool- and school-age children with a high quality learning program designed to stimulate and enhance a child’s social, cognitive, emotional, and creative skills. We will strive for the application of developmentally appropriate practices which highlights the important balance between applying a general knowledge of child development with the development of a positive relationship with a child and his or her family.

It is the belief of the Early Learners’ Center that a learning program fostering the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and creative growth of young children is essential for meeting their universal needs of health and nutrition; constant, stable, and appropriate supervision; curriculum and instruction; safe and supportive communities. We provide our children and their parents many opportunities to explore, discover, and experiment in a safe and emotionally responsive environment. Our staff members recognize parents and teachers as the primary educators in a child’s life, and we will provide an educational and supportive system to enhance those lessons. We are committed to fostering young children’s healthy development, self-esteem, independence, and academic competence. We strive to create an atmosphere of respect for all individuals in a cooperative and value-driven educational setting.
