Inner Workings of Music II

Are you an advanced beginner/intermediate or advanced player? Would you like to have a deeper understanding of the elements of your music? In this class we delve into more complex structure, rhythms, harmonies and scales. Students should bring music (and their instrument) so that the whole class can analyze it as a group. The class gives you a foundation to help create an environment to make your own music-making more fun, enjoyable and interesting. A basic level reading of music is essential.

The Evolution of Rock & Recording Technology

This class traces the evolution of Rock and Roll through different trends and styles from the 50’s through the present. Using samples of recordings, the class explores how both Rock music and recording technology changed and how one drove the other. The course gives listeners a new perspective of what they are listening to and how analogue and digital recordings differ in sound.

More Drawing for Those Who Think They Can’t

A continuation of basic drawing focusing on the elemental and foundational components of shape, positive and negative space, shared edges and spatial relationships (an understanding of these concepts is helpful). We will move into more complex aspects of drawing such as shading, perspective, composition and design, furthering our skills of observation and subsequent articulation in order to draw our subjects with accuracy.
