First Steps for New Students at the Rifle Campus

Complete an application for admission online or in-person at any CMC campus.
2. Financing your education
There are many ways to make college affordable. Find out more about Federal and State Financial Aid, scholarships, and work study jobs. Contact Janelle at email@example.com or call 970-625-6910 for additional assistance.
3. Placement Testing
The State of Colorado requires all students to submit ACT/SAT scores, take ACCUPLACER test, or submit transcripts from previous college(s) to accurately place students. Test scores may not be more than five years old.
Walk-in ACCUPLACER testing takes place on the Rifle campus every Friday from 9:00 – 11:30 am. The test is free to CMC students. To make a testing appointment, call 970-625-6900.
There are many great resources for assisting students in preparing for the ACCUPLACER test. Below are several free websites.

To submit coursework from other institutions for placement consideration, have the school(s) submit official college transcripts to Colorado Mountain College.

4. Register for classes
Students can register for classes by meeting with an Academic Advisor or watching online tutorial videos. Meeting with an Academic Advisor assists students with classes, planning, and any questions.

5. Prepare for classes
Books: Order books from the CMC Bookstore. Financial Aid/Scholarship students may complete a book form at the Rifle Campus and have the cost of books deducted from the aid awarded.
Technology: Be sure to log on and navigate using Basecamp and Canvas.
6. Additional student resources
Student Support Services (SSS) is a free, federally funded student assistance program for students that are first-generation and/or low-income and/or have a documented disability.
