Topics include: the art of business lending, mitigating risk, the 5 C’s of credit, bank loans/SBA loans/combinations, the business application, loan terms, and the Northwest Loan Fund. Time will be provided for Q & A.

Business Plans: Smart Planning for a Start Up

Thinking about going into business? Spend one evening learning to organize and write a well articulated vision of your business for yourself, investors, customers and key partners. Topics include: customer demographics and psychographics, required sections of a business plan, content guidelines for each section, building financial forecasts, web tools, local resources and understanding the rules and judging criteria for the business plan competition.

Yampa Valley SCORE Business Plan Competition
Hosted by Colorado Mountain College
Sponsored by the City of Steamboat Springs
The objective of this program is to encourage aspiring entrepreneurs to create a well written business plan and to present their plan to experienced business professionals for evaluation.
The winner will receive a cash prize of $10,000, 3 months free rent in the new Yampa Valley Entrepreneurship Center, an introduction and visit with a venture capital funding company and recognition for their new business in the community. It is assumed this prize is taxable income for recipient. The second place competitor will receive a cash prize of $5,000. Prize money will come from the City of Steamboat Springs in support of economic development in the community.
Written business plans will be due by September 19, 2016. Oral presentation will occur within several weeks. There will be a pre-submission agreement and waiver for applicants to complete.
