Desert Orientation @ CMC in Spring Valley

Class Description:

A concentrated field experience in a desert environment is provided in this course. Emphasis is on procedures for group travel and camping, ecology, geography, and safety.

This backpacking-based class explores the spectacular Sonoran Desert environment south of Phoenix. It will take place in the North Maricopa Wilderness Area, Arizona, from March 9-14. There are two mandatory pre-meetings on 2/24 and 3/3 from 1-2:50pm. The supplemental course charge includes most meals (17), transportation, campground fees, and group equipment. Tent, sleeping bag and backpack rentals are available. The supplemental charge ($366) is nonrefundable.

Community First Aid and CPR @ CMC in Glenwood Springs

Class Description:

Prepares the student for certification in CPR and basic first aid. Skills will include basic life support, airway obstruction, control of bleeding, shock, and patient care for the unconscious.

An American Heart Association Blended Learning course; the Part One, knowledge portion of the course, is completed online (Online Part One registration and information at http://www.onlineaha.org) and Part Two, Skill Session, is in person with an instructor, during the scheduled hours for the class. Once registered for the CMC course, each student must pay the additional online registration cost directly to AHA when registering for the online portion. Once each student completes Part One (online portion), they schedule a skill session time during the scheduled hours of the class, bringing their Part One completion certification with them.
