Arts and Sciences Degrees Prepare Students for Transfer

Academic Affairs works with CMC faculty to develop, assess and administer Arts & Science degree programs

The Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science degree programs are designed to prepare students to transfer to four-year colleges and universities. The Associate of Arts degree program offers a liberal arts education that includes the Colorado State Guaranteed General Education Curriculum. This Curriculum includes a minimum of one year of course work in communications, humanities, social sciences, mathematics and science. Within the Associate of Arts degree program, CMC offers the following designations: Anthropology, Business, Early Childhood Teacher Education, Elementary Teacher Education, Economics, Environmental Studies, History, Outdoor Education, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, French, Spanish, Theatre, and Visual Arts. CMC has many articulation agreements with Colorado universities to assist students in transfer.

The Associate of Science degrees are designed for those who plan to seek a four-year degree in advanced technology, mathematics, or physical, natural or computer science areas. Coursework is much more heavily based on mathematics and the physical and life sciences along with the state general education requirements. Within the Associate of Science degree program, CMC offers the following designations: Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Psychology, Physics and Engineering.

All Associate of General Studies degrees (with the exception of the AGS-generalist degree) are the result of articulation agreements with public baccalaureate degree-granting institutions. They are transferable only in the particular program identified by the articulation agreement. These degree emphasis areas include Criminal Justice, Elementary Education, Engineering, and Outdoor Recreation Leadership.
