Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Colorado Mountain College Foundation, Glenwood Springs, CO

Reporting to the Colorado Mountain College Foundation CEO and Vice President for Advancement, the Director of Development and Alumni Relations will oversee the Colorado Mountain College Foundation (CMCF) day-to-day operations including prospect research, annual fund programming, alumni engagement efforts, CMCF public relations and communications, event coordination, data management and staff supervision. The Director of Development will review, design, implement and monitor fundraising systems, including all related processes, activities and programs. The incumbent will also manage and maintain the alumni database, association, and alumni events, records and communication. The Director of Development will be expected to manage a strategic portfolio of donor prospects.

Pre-Requisites for the Position (Qualifications Standards)

  1. Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution; Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Experience in the field: Minimum of 5 years related experience. Must be proficient in fundraising and developing and refining systems and procedures for the smooth functioning of office operations and a growing knowledge of Advancement Services (reporting standards, use of databases and Advancement software). Experience in annual fund management; database management; strategic events management; philanthropic responsibilities; and personnel management. Experience in a higher education is preferred.
  3. Special Skills or abilities related to position: This position will require organizational, writing and communication skills; the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; to work within budgets; interact collegially with academic leadership; professionally represent the College to external constituents; identify and work with volunteers; maintain confidentiality; solicit contributions/commitments at all levels; discuss legacy giving; and comprehensively/accurately document activity.
