Introduces students to basic skills through various art media. This course may be repeated under a different subtitle for a maximum of six credit hours. Encompasses a multitude of one- credit art experiences that expose students to an art form that they may wish to explore further.
Learn to draw what you see in a step-by-step, easily understood method. Introduces lines of sight, the grid method, viewing positive and negative space, measuring proportions, and free-hand perspective. Emphasis will be on technique rather than on personal expression. Subject matter will be limited to a variety of still-life subjects, but the skills can be applied to drawing figures or other subject matter. Students should plan on attending all class meetings for maximum learning. Materials needed: 18 X 24 lightweight paper (50 to 80lb) 2B pencils, erasers and a ruler.
