Ice Climbing II

This course continues to develop proficiency in technical ice climbing, including equipment selection and safety, knots, belaying and climbing, rappelling, and climbing safety. Safe, fast and efficient ice climbing, leadership, ice climbing site management, and judgment development will be emphasized. Students must be at least 18 years of age on the first day of class to take this course.
OUT-129-SV01 and OUT-130-SV01 are designed to be taken concurrently in the same semester. Students enrolling in this course must also enroll in OUT-129-SV01, Ice Climbing I. Ice Climbing II continues to develop proficiency in technical ice climbing, including equipment selection and safety, knots, belaying, climbing, rappelling, and climbing safety. This course includes an overnight field trip of three days (2 nights) to Ouray Ice Park, leaving at 6AM on 2/16 and returning at 7PM on 2/18. Students must be at least 18 years of age to take this course. The nonrefundable course charge includes $162.50 for transportation and 2 nights of shared accommodation in Ouray, $25.75 for access fees, $20 for expendable supplies, $50 for personal ice climbing equipment rental of boots, crampons, and ice axes, and $0.78 for tax. .
