About Jason

I started my career in the ski industry by aiding in construction of a small ski area in North Dakota named Huff Hills. I was the foreman on all phases of construction from the ground up, including installing the snowmaking system, lifts, clearing trails, as well as building the chalet and shop.

I was attending Bismarck State College at the time of my new found interest in Ski Area Operations and decided to pursue a degree in Ski Area Management from Gogebic Community College.

I ended up doing my internship at Copper Mountain and never left. I worked at Copper as the Terrain Parks and Half Pipes Foreman for 11 years.

I was the first ever recipient of the Terrain Master of the Year award presented by Colorado Ski Country USA in 2002 for proficiency in park and pipe building.

This led to an invitation to be an instructor at Cutter’s Camp where I was the Park Bully specialist for Kassbohrer over the snow vehicles.

In 2002 I stepped away from Copper to pursue a position with Plant Snow Design. During my five years with them, I had the opportunity to work on several events such as the Chevy Grand Prix of Snowboarding, The Vail Honda Session, The World Cup of Snowboarding, The Swatch Boarder Cross World Tour as well as consulting, designing and operator training for many other ski areas.

I am delighted to be a part of the Colorado Mountain College faculty and look forward to passing on my vast knowledge of the ski industry to the ski area operators of the future.

My personal interests include spending time with my family as well as snowboarding, hunting and fishing.
