Bachelor of Arts in Education Degree

CMC’s innovating program provides latest training — in local classrooms

The Bachelor of Arts in Education is a unique program that prepares future teachers to serve the needs of the diverse students and schools in our rural mountain communities.
We believe the best way to learn how to teach is to get into the classroom.

Colorado Mountain College places students in elementary classrooms from the start. As you take college coursework, you will learn alongside veteran teachers.

Why is this important? Many college students don’t get into the classroom until later in their program, giving them few chances to develop classroom skills. By gaining experience during all four years CMC students develop skills that help them be successful in their first year of teaching. And by getting into the classroom right away, students decide early on whether teaching is the career for them.

EMBEDDED CULTURALLY AND LINGUISTICALLY DIVERSE EDUCATION

This degree is based on innovative techniques and approaches from the best of education research. As a result, it blends the latest theories with classroom experience and preparation in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Education. Students will build their inclusive teaching strategies to provide an exceptional educational experience.

TEACHING CAREERS

Great locally trained teachers are in high demand. This program was developed with input from school leaders throughout the rural mountain communities in Colorado. These school districts, along with many others in Colorado, import teachers trained in other states who frequently leave after a short term. School leaders want to increase the quality and continuity of their schools and are looking for teachers who are committed to living in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

ENDORSEMENTS & DUAL LICENSURE PATHWAYS

Take control of your academic adventure. A teacher endorsement is an add-on statement that appears on a teacher certification. Each endorsement qualifies individuals to teach in a specialized area which adds value to a teaching career.
