The professional fly fishing guide certification program at Colorado Mountain College is a six-week in-residence summer program at Colorado Mountain College in Leadville and Steamboat Springs. Successful participants receive a certificate of completion – fly fish guide upon completing the program.

What will I learn?

The fly fishing guide certification program is designed to provide the training and education that will lead to success as a fly fishing guide. Students completing this program will receive a Fly Fishing Guide Certificate of Completion from Colorado Mountain College.

CMC faculty and staff have worked with an industry-related board in the development of this program to ensure that it meets the needs of the industry.

Colorado Mountain College is located near some of the nation’s best fly fishing making it the ideal location for a fly fishing guide school and certification program. You will take outdoor classes on the upper reaches of the Arkansas River. Nearby are rivers like the fabled Frying Pan, Roaring Fork, Colorado and the South Platte.

A little further and you can be at the Green and the San Juan. High mountain lakes abound near campus and we are not far from the well-stocked Spinney Mountain and Antero reservoirs.
