Photo of Outdoor Education students pitching tents in the Colorado Rockies high country.The Outdoor Education Program at Steamboat Springs invites you to experience courses in outdoor skills, natural sciences, philosophy, ethics, and recreational activities designed to prepare our students for leadership roles in a variety of occupations. Our classroom ranges from small classes on campus to extended field sessions in our surrounding mountains, canyons, deserts, and rivers.

Goals of this program:

  • Provide practical training and experience for future outdoor educators
  • Promote awareness and reflection concerning safety, gear, risk management
  • Leave No Trace principles, natural history, ethics, and current/past trends/philosophy in outdoor education
  • To be outdoors and have fun during your college experience!
