Get a hands-on theatre education

Colorado Mountain College is the ideal setting for pursuing a theatre-emphasis degree. If it’s acting you’re interested in, you’ll be on stage. If you’re interested in production, you’ll have some starring roles in set design, lighting, and sound.
Photo of set designThe classes you will take complement each of these performing and technical aspects of theatre. Our faculty will be your personal trainers, coaching you one-on-one with their many years of experience. You can expect a great deal of attention from them, given our small teacher-to-student and director-to-student ratios.

Each of our Theatre Production classes requires 60 hours of participation in set construction, scenic artistry, costuming, lighting, sound, and stage managing for the Sopris Theatre Company performances. You will study elemental production theories and put them into practice at the same time.

In addition to reading and dissecting some of the great plays of history, you will have the chance to write plays and produce student-centered works in collaboration with others.

Our theatre degree program is designed to give you perspective from many angles on this living, breathing, changing performing art. Prepare to jump in!
