I grew up on the East coast just outside of Philadelphia in Wilmington DE. Started working in various positions in the restaurant industry in high school. Graduated from Johnson and Wales College, Providence Campus, with an AS in Culinary Arts and worked for several years as a Chef in various private restaurants. Continued my education at James Madison University in Virginia and graduated with a BS in Hotel and Restaurant management.
Upon graduation I accepted a position as hotel Food and Beverage Director in Providence, RI. I left the hotel industry briefly to complete my MBA at Drexel University in Philadelphia and took a position as a Lecturer for the new HRIM program at the University of Delaware. Upon graduation I reentered the industry and over the next 20 years I worked in several operations and controller positions for brands such as Holiday Inn, Bally’s Hotel & Casino, Sheraton, Marriott, and Embassy Suites.
In 2003 I accepted a position at the Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago as a faculty member in the Culinary and Hospitality Program. During my time at ILIA I also taught as an adjunct at several other Chicago area culinary and hospitality schools. I moved to Denver in 2011 due to a family job transfer and worked briefly as an adjunct at both the Art Institute of Colorado and Johnson and Wales University.
