Trey Shelton joined the Colorado Mountain College Outdoor Studies team in 2011. He teaches outdoor courses like Trekking, River Orientation, Whitewater Kayaking, and Whitewater Leadership.
Trey began his outdoor career at 18 years old, working as a river guide and kayak instructor on the Upper Arkansas River in Buena Vista, CO. He has worked in the outdoor industry ever since, and enjoys sharing his love for the outdoors with new students each year.
“I cannot think of a better way to help new and aspiring guides get excited and prepare for their own outdoor careers,” says Trey.
Trey has a deep love for exploring and connecting with international communities and cultures. This passion has brought him around the world, opening the doors for incredible experiences including international adventure guiding and work as an educator and facilitator with the United Nations’ Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development programs in eastern Africa. Trey has also lead several CMC study abroad trips to East Africa and the Himalyas.
