CMC Next, A better way to plan, register, and stay on track
Starting in mid-March 2026, CMC is making several upgrades to help you register earlier, plan smarter, and stay on track to finish your program.
What’s Changing & Why
We’re improving the systems and support services that help you register for classes, track your progress, manage financial aid, and connect with your advisor. These changes will:
- Make it easier to plan your classes
- Give you a clearer plan to reach a degree
- Offer better online tools
- Help you stay on track to graduation
- Create a more flexible and modern academic calendar
What You Need to Do Now
- Keep an eye on your CMC email and Canvas announcements
- Watch for registration reminders in April
- Talk to your advisor about fall plans
- Check back here for updates — this page is the hub for all things CMC Next
Registration Is Changing
Early Registration Opens April 13, 2026
(Usually this happens in March — this year it’s a little later.)
Meet with your advisor before registration opens. You’ll be able to set up your fall game plan so that you’re ready when Workday launches.
Once Workday does launch, you’ll still get reminders, support sessions, and advising help. Registration will feel familiar, but the timeline is different.

Financial Aid Timeline Update – 2026–2027 Academic Year
Students who submitted a FAFSA or CASFA will likely hear from the Office of Financial Aid in March or April regarding financial aid for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Completing your FAFSA or CASFA as soon as possible will ensure you are ready to review your financial aid once processed. If you added CMC to your CASFA or FAFSA and you received your confirmation from the Department of Education, you will be ready to learn your next steps at CMC in mid-March.

Academic Calendar Updates
Fall 2026 semester starts on August 10.
This earlier start date helps align CMC programs across campuses and gives you more flexibility during the year.
This fall we will be offering a mix of 16 and 8 week courses
Your advisor can help you plan the best mix for your program. These new offerings will allow you to:
-
- Focus on fewer classes at a time
- Start classes later in the semester
- Finish requirements faster

New Advising Model
Advisors are shifting to an Academic Pathway Advising model.
This means your advisor will be connected to your program area. This ensures you work with someone who knows your academic pathway and career options inside and out.
Don’t worry: you’ll still have real people, real support, and easy ways to meet (in person or online).
