The communities of Salida and Poncha Springs recently joined the Colorado Mountain College (CMC) district and the college has been entrusted with the unique responsibility of building a college presence and services in this new geographical location. Under the general direction of the Campus Vice President for Leadville and Salida Campuses, the Associate Dean will be responsible for building a vibrant, high quality cadre of programs and courses in a start-up environment. Only those with an entrepreneurial, community service mindset need apply. The successful candidate will have experience building a team, business, idea, or concept from the ground up with an eye to opportunities, partnerships and collaborations across sectors. The Associate Dean for Academic and Student Services is responsible for the daily operations of the campus including quality of academic offerings, quality of support functions for students and direction and oversight of a small and growing staff. The associate Dean has general oversight of the delivery of the range of services that provide support and guidance to students in completing their academic goals and that further the mission of the college. This position is expected to reside in Salida or Poncha Springs and involvement and engagement in the community is required.
The position also works on projects across the college and must possess the knowledge and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students, administrators, faculty, facilities professionals and partnering agencies.

Pre-Requisites for the Position (Qualifications Standards)
Education and experience sufficient to meet the rigors of the position, such as a Master’s degree from an accredited institution that meet Graduate level qualifications. Four years of combined experience in academic and student services. Including, but not limited to, combinations of experience in teaching in a higher education setting, supervision of academic programs and instruction, supervision of counselors/advisors, student adjudication, course scheduling. Experience with a concentration in academic, student services administration, accounting, finance, personnel, or general administration; and four years of combined experience with a community college preferred. Academic and Student Services preferred. Four years of combined experience in an educational, non-profit or governmental administration setting. Evidence of at least 4 years of supervisory experience with at least 5-10 direct reports. At least 4 years of program or project oversight with associated budgetary responsibilities. Experience in an education setting, supervision of academic programs and faculty in addition to student support services is a plus.
