four corners Consortium for Rural Community College published Astronomy Research

Colorado Mountain College has been awarded an NSF Planning Grant to expand its successful astronomy student research program to other students and other schools.

This program guides students through the writing and publishing of scientific papers, as part of a collaborative consortium of rural Southwestern community colleges.

Sky Club Faculty posed in front of the on campus observatory.

We support first-time researchers through hands-on astronomy projects using both remote and local telescopes, while also training their teachers to mentor and guide them in data collection, analysis, scientific writing, publication, and presenting their research at conferences.

Students learn how to become scientists by doing science.  Our Four Corners Consortium will bring real science to schools, students, and teachers who would otherwise not have these opportunities.

For more information on becoming part of our consortium, either as a student, mentor or teacher, email CMC Physical Science Chair Paul McCudden at pmccudden@coloradomtn.edu or Russ Genet at russellgenet@fairborn.org
