Welcome to Colorado Mountain College in Leadville, a campus surrounded by Colorado’s tallest peaks, with 360 degrees of sweeping mountain views that are bound to take your breath away. Miles of trails wind their way through campus, allowing access to the Mineral Belt, the local Leadville trail system, connecting the campus to town, the Historic Landmark District and Leadville Mining District. The Mineral Belt has more than 11 miles of all-season, paved, ADA accessible trails for hiking, biking, running, and high altitude exploration.

This campus is equipped with advanced classroom technologies like smartboards, smart classrooms, IVS technology, state-of-the-art wireless campus, presentation spaces and on site technical support. Colorado Mountain College in Leadville can house and feed more than 140 people on site. The largest indoor classroom setting has a capacity of 85 and the gym is able to accommodate 275.

The Colorado Mountain College Leadville campus overlooks Leadville, a historic wild west boom town and the highest incorporated city in North America. History buffs will fall in love with the town’s rich Victorian architecture and colorful heritage. Modern day Leadville is well known for it’s incredible access to outdoor recreation and is the home to the legendary Leadville Race Series.

ON CAMPUS ACTIVITIES

Access many outdoor Rocky Mountain activities on campus at Colorado Mountain College's Leadville. On-campus recreational opportunities include everything from hiking and biking to cross-country skiing and disc golf.

On Campus Outdoor Amenities:

  • Mineral Belt Trail System - On-campus access to miles of trails. Groomed and maintained in the winter by the Ski Area Operations program.
  • 18 hole disc golf course
  • Freestyle Terrain Park
  • Spectacular views of Colorado’s two highest mountains, Mt Elbert and Mt Massive
  • Ice climbing wall (seasonal and condition dependent)
  • Tubing and sledding hill (maintained by Ski Area Operations students)

You can see the Continental Divide from campus. Climbing and hiking, as well as world-class fly fishing, rafting and kayaking, are minutes away.

Historic downtown Leadville, with museums, shopping and dining, is less than a mile away.

OFF CAMPUS ACTIVITIES

There's plenty to do off and on campus when you hold your conference at Colorado Mountain College in Leadville.

Summer events in Leadville are numerous including Boomdays Mining Celebration in August featuring a unique Pack Burro Race. Locals and international athletes alike enjoy the Leadville Trail 100 ultramarathon race and LT 100 bicycle races.

The town is rich in Colorado mining history, and home to several museums, including the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum. Jeep tours and train rides explore mining country.

A few miles downstream, whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River is some of Colorado’s best. Several nearby wilderness areas, national forests and large lakes provide other recreation opportunities. The 9-hole Mt. Massive golf course is one of the nation’s highest.

It all comes together at CMC’s Timberline Campus in Leadville. Bright, clean on-campus housing is available mid-May through early August.
