CMC is a comprehensive, public, open-access dual-mission institution offering 136 academic programs ranging from specialized certificates to associate and bachelor’s degrees, a wide range of online, non-credit and lifelong learning courses, as well as extensive concurrent enrollment opportunities in close partnership with neighboring school districts.

Over 15,000 students attend CMC annually, and 40% of degree-seeking students earn a certificate or degree every year. The college’s Latinx enrollment has doubled in six years to 28%, making CMC a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). CMC courses are highly personal and many are highly experiential by design, each with a maximum registration of 25 students.

Colorado Mountain College campuses are located in Aspen, Carbondale, Breckenridge, Dillon, Steamboat Springs, Glenwood Springs, Glenwood Springs-Spring Valley, Leadville, Rifle, the Vail Valley, and Salida. The position

Under the supervision of the TRIO Upward Bound Director, the Upward Bound Summer Camp Assistant is a part-time position offering supervision and advisement to high school students during our TRIO Upward Bound summer program. Upward Bound is a U.S. Department of Education federally funded educational opportunity program that prepares eligible high school students to enter and succeed in post-secondary education. The 6-week summer program is focused on enhancing the academic skills of the participants and provides participants with fast-paced, intensive academic coursework and other social, cultural, and recreational enrichment activities.

The primary objective of the Camp Assistant is to ensure the well-being of students in grades 9 - 12, with regard to health, safety, morale, discipline, interpersonal relationships, and academics during the Upward Bound Summer Academy.

This is a part-time position which is limited to 28 hours per CMC’s workweek. CMC’s workweek is Saturday through Friday.

Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)

Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. Applicants must be a college sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate with a strong academic record. Must possess strong leadership qualities and have the ability to function as a team player. Ability to mentor and tutor high school students in a virtual and/or in-person environment. Possess good interpersonal skills, communication, and a positive attitude/energy Ability to maintain appropriate, professional boundaries with students. Be energetic and motivated to mentor/tutor, create, and implement activities to summer participants who are predominately low-income and first-generation students from diverse backgrounds.

Special Skills or abilities directly applicable to the position: Bilingual abilities in Spanish is preferred. Experience working with low-income and first-generation students from diverse backgrounds, Prior resident assistant or camp counselor experience, A current, valid driver’s license with no violations within two-years. Or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform the functions of the position.

Essential Duties

  • Plan, coordinate, implement and participate in leadership structured activities for the campers, during out of class time.
  • Planning and coordinating out of class time activities with camp participants.
  • Develop positive and supportive relationships with Upward Bound students, mentoring them on academic, personal, social, and college/career
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a positive and safe environment in the UB residence hall and/or summer camp venues for students and staff, creating an atmosphere that appreciates the diverse cultures, traditions, lifestyles, and beliefs of all Supervise participants at recreation, co-curricular activities, and meals.
  • Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success by providing study skills (i.e., time management, note-taking, textbook reading, test-taking) workshops when appropriate.
  • Provide academic assistance to students (either in a group or individual setting) in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas. In addition, assist program participants in the completion and review of homework and in-class
  • Assist in monitoring students’ arrival to camp and departures.
  • When/if staying in the residence halls, conduct wake up calls and evening lights out rounds and provide supervisory coverage as
  • Transport, lead, and/or accompany students to and from activities in CMC vans, as
  • Maintain student confidentiality as
  • Handle and/or refer student disciplinary issues, crises, and personal issues to appropriate
  • Maintain program rules and expectations by reinforcing and implementing the policies in the CMC Upward Bound

The position

Under the direction of a designated campus administrator, this position actively participates in a variety of campus fiscal functions, impacting campus accounts, fund, and budget management.  The Campus Fiscal Manager uses accounting principles and business office management practices in support of the budget and financial needs of the campus, ensuring compliance with all College fiscal principles and processes.

This position may serve as a lead to other campus team members and may advise management regarding the effective use of resources and methods to maximize budget.

The Campus Fiscal Manager operates as an integral part of a highly functioning campus team, provides intermittent administrative assistance to the campus dean, participates in the generation and implementation of campus strategic initiatives, and periodically represents the college in the community in manner that matches the Fiscal Manager’s skills and propensities.

This position coordinates and oversees campus room rentals, facilities use agreements, and related logistics.

The Manager advises campus budget officers regarding the effective use of resources and methods to maximize budget, provide short long-term data informed recommendations.

The position

The TRIO Upward Bound (UB) Project Director is funded through a U.S. Department of Education grant. The project works with low income, first generation, or academically disadvantaged high school students, in target area schools, to help them develop the skills needed to become successful college students.

The position is responsible for the organization, management, planning, administration, supervision, implementation, and execution of the TRIO Upward Bound grant project. The position will hire, train, supervise and evaluate project staff.  In collaboration with project staff, the position will monitor, evaluate, and meet the goals and objectives as outlined in the grant. Establish, monitor, and administer federal budget funds. Collect tracking data to complete timely submission of all reports and requests. Assist in identifying, recruiting, and selecting student participants. Provide leadership for effective student, parental and community involvement.  Coordinate with target school personnel and administration. Responsible for ensuring that the project is following applicable regulations and requirements. The Director also will supervise staff and report to the Director of Strategic Initiatives.

Examples of ideal qualifications include bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in administration, counseling, education, or related field and five years of experience in supervising an educational program, or an associate’s degree and seven years of related experience or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position.

Master’s degree preferred. Experience administering federal grants and federal budgets preferred. Experience with TRIO programs or having a similar background to that of participants served is preferred.

The position

Under the direction of a designated campus administrator, this position actively participates in maintaining fiscal control of campus accounts and funds. The Campus Budget Manger uses accounting principles and business office management practices in support of the budget and financial needs of the campus. This position is involved in hands-on tasks as well as oversight of the work of accounting functional personnel within the campus to ensure compliance with all College fiscal principles and processes.  This includes processing financial transactions in support of the accounts payable functions of the campus.

This position supervises Campus Fiscal Managers and/or Campus Receivable Managers.  Provides training and development of newly assigned or less experience personnel. Provides for the accumulation of data and preparation of special projects, and analysis as needed. Advises management regarding the effective use of resources and methods to maximize budget.

The position

Under the direction of the Coordinator of Student Activities and Summer Conferences, the Director of Recreation and Events and the Campus Store Manager, the Student Operations Assistant will perform varied duties to support the summer conferencing program, day-to-day operations of the Field House and Campus Store operations. The Student Operations Assistant will rotate and provide support to all three locations. The Student Operations Assistant will role model appropriate behavior on campus, online, and in the community. Ability to follow directions and be a team player is critical. The Student Operations Assistant is expected to be capable of dealing with situations (emergency and non-emergency) as they arise with professionalism and safety in mind. This front-line position is often the first point of contact for visitors to campus.

The Student Operations Assistant must be available for the entire employment period, typically, mid-May through mid-August. Approval for limited work outside the Student Operations Assistant position or enrollment of summer classes will be required in-advance. The Student Operations Assistant is required to live in the residence hall and will receive a rent-free room in the residence hall during employment period.

The CMC work week is Saturday through Friday. This position is limited to 28 hours per week maximum.
