CANCELLED: CMC Foundation's ArtShare and Opera Steamboat present Interplay

Exhibition of visual art by local artists inspired by music

Opera Steamboat and CMC regret to announce that the Interplay Art+Opera Event scheduled for Friday, August 29 at 5:30pm has been cancelled. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused. We hope to reschedule this event for a date in the near future.

Sept. 25, 2023 – Art and opera will mix when Opera Steamboat and the Colorado Mountain College Foundation welcome the community to CMC Steamboat Springs for the Sept. 29 grand opening of an exhibition of visual art inspired by musical performances.

Twenty local visual artists took inspiration from Opera Steamboat’s July 2023 Interplay performance — a program of arias about love and loss — and produced works in various media. Featured artists include Joanne Orce, Wulf Wilhelm, Steamboat Hatters Kay McKenzie and Sam Daniels, Melissa Stadler, Gary Smith, Katlyn Miller, Marcella Chavez, Jeremy Gohr and nearly a dozen more.

The exhibit will be on the first and second floors of the CMC Steamboat Springs Academic Center, 1275 Crawford Ave. Larger pieces will be displayed in the gallery space of the first-floor lobby, and the rest of the exhibit on the second-floor gallery space.

The exhibit is expected to remain in place for the remainder of CMC’s fall semester, which ends on Dec. 8.
