Haunted Hills and Screamboat part of CMC’s Halloween offerings
Celebrate Halloween with CMC at Leadville and Steamboat Springs
Halloween is rapidly approaching so at least two CMC campuses are offering up some frightful activities to help you celebrate.
Haunted Hills at CMC Leadville
At CMC Leadville, it’s time for the sixth annual Haunted Hills bike and run races that will zig zag through the campus’s trails on Saturday, Oct. 29. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes and the best dressed racers will receive a prize.
Racers can choose either scary or non-scary races on the Leadville campus. The event starts at 3 p.m. with a non-scary mountain bike race. At 4 p.m., it’s time for the Haunted Hills races. The kids’ 1.5K race is not spooky at all and family friendly, while the 6.66K foot race also begins at the same time before it veers off into scary terrain after the first mile. At 5 p.m., awards will be given out to top overall male and female racers in the mountain bike race, kids' run, and 6.66K run, not to mention the best-dressed racers who will receive a prize.
The Haunted Hills racing events are presented by On running and will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29 starting at 3 p.m. at CMC Leadville, 901 S. Highway 24. Entry fees for the mountain bike and the 6.66K run are $30 each, but if you want to race in both, the duathlon is $45. The kids 1.5K race is $15. Proceeds benefit the CMC cross-country and track teams. For more information and to register, go to Running Guru or contact Darren Brungardt at email@example.com or CMC Leadville.
Screamboat at CMC Steamboat
Up north, the CMC Steamboat Springs Sky Club once again is presenting its Screamboat Chamber of Horrors. Now in its 23rd year, this haunted house transforms the campus’s Allbright Auditorium into a spine-tingling freak hideout. For three nights from 6-10 p.m. each night – Friday, Oct. 28, Saturday, Oct. 29 and Halloween night, Monday, Oct. 31 – those who dare are invited to stop in. Tickets are $10 with a CMC student ID, and $20 without. Proceeds go to fund CMC Steamboat Student Club activities. Contact Paul McCudden at firstname.lastname@example.org or CMC Steamboat Springs.
