‘Work by Lee Shapiro: Celebrating 41 Years’ at CMC Aspen
Reception and artist’s talk held on July 10
July 8, 2024 – The CMC Aspen Gallery will present “Work by Lee Shapiro: Celebrating 41 Years” at Colorado Mountain College Aspen with a reception and artist’s talk on July 10.
This art exhibition features the work of Shapiro, a Roaring Fork Valley artist who taught watercolor painting at CMC for 41 years. Shapiro is best known for his illustration of the Richard Bach children’s classic, “There’s No Such Place as Far Away.” His watercolor subjects include paintings of Olympic athletes, ski racing, ballet, cycling, animals and more.
“Work by Lee Shapiro: Celebrating 41 Years” will take place from 4-7 p.m. on July 10, with the artist’s talk at 5:30 p.m. at CMC Aspen, Aspen Business Center, 0255 Sage Way, Aspen. The event is free and the public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
The event is sponsored by Obermeyer Wood Investment Council, ArtShare and the CMC Foundation. The exhibit will remain at CMC Aspen through Aug. 12.
