The successful candidate focuses on: Instructing in all levels of English as a Second Language (ESL) courses; encouraging retention and persistence of ESL students; complying with Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) grant requirements; and developing career pathway courses based on local workforce needs, which feed into Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs such as hospitality, tourism, health, and information technology. This position will also have teaching responsibilities in Basalt. This position may include teaching at night, weekend on weekends, online, and in multiple campus locations.
Grant funded positions are subject to available funding and grant renewals. This is a one-year term position.
Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teaching courses as assigned; evaluating courses and assessing student learning; meeting established course, program and learning outcomes; complying with guidelines and policies; maintaining office hours per established standards; developing rapport with students; and assisting with and participating in advising, orientation and registration activities.
CMC Faculty are generally expected to engage in scholarly endeavors and service activities such as: serving on campus and college committees; participating in relevant projects; mentoring peers; advising students and student organizations; recruiting and retention efforts; and service as a source of expertise in their field for local communities.

Conversational Spanish language abilities are strongly preferred.
Salary range $64,392.31 – $78,429.77 depending upon education and experience/teaching experience in higher education.
Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:
Master’s Degree in TESOL Linguistics, English, Adult Education, Developmental Education, Education, or other degree with 18 graduate credits in TESOL required. Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA) required, or willingness to obtain within three years. Minimum of one-year, full-time teaching experience or the equivalent as an adjunct faculty member.
Higher education teaching experience and knowledge of a language other than English preferred. Experience preferred in a variety of teaching delivery modes including online. Excellent written and oral communication skills, flexibility and collegiality are essential.
