This full-time faculty position begins in January 2020 with a 30 credit hour teaching load annually.
The successful candidate focuses on teaching and inspiring students in English Composition, Literature and Rhetoric. Ideal candidates will be able to teach Communications courses. Courses for this position may include teaching students in local high schools.
Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teaching course load as assigned; evaluating courses and assessing student learning; meeting established course; program and learning outcomes; complying with guidelines and policies; maintaining office hours per established standards; developing rapport with students; assisting with and participating in advising, orientation, and registration activities.
CMC Faculty are generally expected to engage in scholarly endeavors and service activities such as: serving on campus and college committees; participating in relevant projects; mentoring peers; advising students and student organizations; recruiting and retention efforts; and service as a source of expertise in their field for local communities.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working in a culturally diverse environment and the ability to work effectively with students, employees, vendors and community members having diverse backgrounds.
Conversational Spanish language abilities may be preferred.
Salary range $64,392.31 - $78,429.77 depending upon education and experience/teaching experience in higher education.
Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:
Master’s Degree in English, or other degree with 18 graduate credits in English required. Applicants who also have 18 graduate credits in Communications are desired.
Minimum of one-year, full-time teaching experience or the equivalent as an adjunct faculty member.
Higher education teaching experience preferred. Experience needed in a variety of teaching delivery modes including online. Excellent written and oral communication skills, flexibility and collegiality are essential.
