Art (For Ages 8-11)

In these classes, children will have hands-on experiences with drawing, painting, collage and sculpture. Instructor Thelma Zabel's specialty is welcoming children to the joy of creating by starting each art class with a children's book or a famous work of art as a motivation. Projects emphasize using the elements of art to create uniquely individual pieces. Over the years she has taught and directed programs for children as well as instructing teachers in methods of instruction including art, literature, and movement embedded in the curriculum. She recommends bringing an old shirt or smock because creating can be a messy endeavor.
