Creative Writing for Anyone Who Wants to Write Fiction - Beginners to Published
January 20, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
In this class, we will focus on three things: generating content, reading like writers, and talking about craft issues that you will then work within your stories. We will use folktales and classic and modern short stories as texts to explore during class. We will also do writing exercises in the class designed to create content for you to work with over the week. Talks about craft will be central to the craft and will include topics such as dialogue, setting, structure, plot, point of view, and character. This is a class where participation is required as is reading and writing outside of class. The trick to writing is simple though, you just have to sit down and do it. The exercises will help you achieve word count. The lessons will help you look deeper into what you are writing and how to improve.
