ECE101: Intro to Early Childhood Education

This 3-credit course provides an introduction to the profession Early Childhood Education (ECE). Course content includes eight key areas of professional knowledge related to working with young children and their families in early care and education settings: child growth and development; health, nutrition and safety; developmentally appropriate practices; guidance; family and community relationships; diversity and inclusion; professionalism; and administration and supervision. This course addresses children ages birth through 8 years.
This class is a super-hybrid that meets face-to-face on three Saturdays in Glenwood Springs from 9 AM to 4 PM throughout the semester with all other content online. Saturday meeting dates are 8/22, 9/19, and 10/17.
Prerequisites: Requires college-level composition and reading placement.
