An overview of the history, purpose and intention behind garments, shoes and accessories, and their design and construction. Topics include the history of climate, culture, geopolitics, and the future of sustainability for the fashion design industry. Develop an understanding of long-term patterns and repetition in trends, that will forecast the next season and the future of fashion design. This course will include an overview of Colorado Fashion Industry, and explore the fashion brands 'Made In Colorado' - apparel and accessory companies that are eco-friendly, innovative, and support fair-trade laws. Instructor Cecilia Metheny brings over 25 years experience in the high-end textile and luxury apparel design industry in New York, Italy, Europe and Asian markets.
