Introduction to American Sign Language

Beginners will learn to spell words, sign in small sentences, and have short conversations with other signers. Introduces the fundamentals, key concepts, parameters, how to use classifiers and the meaning of the ASL language along with the history and the culture of the deaf community as they relate to the language and its origins. This is a very interactive class where you will participate and have a lot of interaction using what you have learned to help you retain the material. Instructor Rae Henson was born deaf and has been a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing and also an American Sign Language Instructor for over 10 years.
