Kiln Glass Pate de Verre I
October 9, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
An introduction to Pate de Verre (paste of glass), a 19 century French glass working technique that allows for unique layered color creation in glass. Students will use a pre-made wax bowl positive to create a plaster mold into which glass powders and frits are packed in layers. Once fired, students will do the final finish and polish. Students will learn the basic mold making, glass packing and finishing processes. No prior experience is needed. Students should come prepared to get dirty and bring an N-95 face mask. All materials will be provided. Linda Halloran has been teaching and working with glass for over ten years, initially blowing glass and more recently creating functional and ornamental kiln glass pieces that are sold locally and nationally. Registration closes 10/1.
