Native Ways: The Medicine Shield
February 26, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
THE MEDICINE SHIELD/WHEEL has been used by generations of Native American tribes and First Nations in Canada for health, healing and as a tool for learning and teaching. There are many interpretations of the Medicine Wheel by many people and cultures. We will begin our journey together by exploring the traditions and symbolism of the medicine shield through the lens of several indigenous cultures as well as modern interpretations. We will then craft and create individual medicine shields to reflect our current relationship with the self and the natural world using these frameworks. In our second meeting, we will explore each participant's interpretation of their shield and how it may reflect the teachings of the ancients and our current relationship with the natural world.
Classes: February 26 through March 25
Meets: Wednesday; 06:30 PM - 09:00 PM
