I love teaching students in the Sustainability Studies and Ecosystem Science and Stewardship programs because I believe in the transformative power of these interdisciplinary programs to empower students to create positive change in Colorado's mountain communities and beyond. My career began as a backcountry llama trekking guide and naturalist in the Eagles Nest and Holy Cross Wilderness Areas. Since then, I have focused my work on natural science field education, sustainability education, collaborative conservation, and climate action in a variety of roles. I am the founder of Walking Mountains Science Center in Avon, CO, the former Director of the Graduate Program at Teton Science Schools, and the first Colorado Program Director for the National Forest Foundation.

My current involvement in the Eagle Valley community and beyond includes: serving as a board member at Walking Mountains, a co-founder and organizing committee member of the Eagle County Community Wildlife Roundtable, a co-founder of the Climate Action Collaborative for the Eagle County Community, a committee member on the Colorado Tourism Office's Destination Stewardship Council, and a trainer for the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. I also served eight years on the Vail Town Council including two years as the Mayor of the Town of Vail.
