SAVE THE CMC SKI TEAM
Racing Toward a Stronger Future

CMC Ski Team
Colorado Mountain College Ski Team stands out as one of the most unique and impactful collegiate ski programs in the nation. Based at CMC’s Steamboat Springs campus in the heart of “Ski Town USA,” this program thrives in a community with deep championship roots.
Student-athletes benefit from two premier training venues—Howelsen Hill and Steamboat Resort—located just minutes from campus, along with exceptional coach-to-athlete ratios and flexible class schedules that support near-daily time on snow. Anchored by small class sizes, affordable tuition, and a deeply student-centered approach, CMC offers a robust model for academic and athletic development.
As a Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association associate-level member, CMC student-athletes compete alongside the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s prominent teams while studying, and can graduate with little to no debt or leverage their athletic and academic experience elsewhere in future years.
As an 11-campus college with a vast commitment to traditional academic programming and local workforce training, CMC does not have the funding structure to independently sustain the costs of the ski team. Without outside support, the college has made the difficult decision to discontinue the ski team at the end of the 2025–26 season. However, with the leadership of team parents and supporters, we are launching a bold campaign to Save the CMC Ski Team, ensuring this one-of-a-kind program continues for years to come.
Athlete Contribution
As part of our fundraising plan, the team will implement a $10,000 annual fee per athlete, generating $100,000 of the $250,000 needed to operate the program each year, beginning with the 2026-27 season. While this fee is new, it reflects a shared commitment to preserving the team’s future while remaining an exceptional value when paired with CMC’s affordable tuition. Even with this adjustment, CMC remains one of the most accessible and cost-effective paths to collegiate alpine ski racing in the country.
FUNDING TIMELINE
Raise $1.5 million to secure the team’s future from 2027 through 2037, supporting coaching, travel, equipment, and training. This amount is the equivalent of $150,000 annually, supported by student fees to reach the estimated $250,000 in annual program costs.

YOUR IMPACT
By supporting this campaign, you’re not just saving a ski team—you’re preserving a legacy of access, opportunity, and excellence for student athletes at Colorado Mountain College.
How To Provide Support
Donations to the CMC Ski Team are tax-deductible, invested through the college’s 501(c)3 partner, the Colorado Mountain College Foundation. Annual or multi-year pledges (payable up to five years) are accepted and can be paid via cash, stock gifts, IRA distributions, or a myriad of other payment options.
The Save The CMC Ski Team campaign has a minimum goal of $1.5M to extend the CMC Ski Team through 2037. If $1.5M is not fully raised within the given timeframe, and the ski team is not able to continue, all donated funds will be used to: 1.) provide additional support to the ski team for any seasons remaining (i.e. additional scholarship and/or travel support for ski team members during remaining seasons), 2.) support CMC Ski Team athletes who wish to continue their education at CMC through scholarships, if the ski team is dissolved.
