STORM KING 14 MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

This endowed scholarship was established as a living memorial to the fourteen firefighters who courageously gave their lives during a wild land fire on Storm King Mountain near Glenwood Springs, Colorado on July 6, 1994. This scholarship was made possible by donations from family and friends of the firefighting community and was created by the Storm King 14 Monument Committee and the City Council of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Colorado Mountain College Foundation administers the scholarship annually.

This one-time scholarship is awarded to a college student in the following priority order:

1. A family member of one of the fallen Storm King firefighters.
2. A dependent of a member of the firefighting units located in Missoula, MT, Savannah River Forest Station, SC, Grand Junction, CO, Prineville, OR, McCall, ID or the greater Glenwood Springs, Colorado area (includes Garfield, Pitkin and Eagle counties).
3. A student pursuing a fire science certificate or degree. An applicant must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA, attend or plan to attend college full time and demonstrate financial need.*

NOTE: Students who are applying in categories #1 or #2 may pursue any course of study. Support for students in category #3 is strictly reserved for those pursuing a certificate or degree in Fire Science. Students in all categories may attend the college of their choice.
